Don Faupel, CPA, Partner

-
Don graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He earned his CPA license in 1980. Don served as Managing Partner of Nietzke & Faupel, P.C. from 2001 through 2008. He continues as partner and head of the Tax and Audit departments.
Don participates in many professional, community and church activities. He is a member of the MACPA, AICPA, and the Northeastern Michigan Estate Planning Council. He is also a member and past chairman of the MACPA Agribusiness Committee; member and past president of the Pigeon Rotary Club, past treasurer of the Pigeon EDC; and past treasurer and director of Bluewater Thumb Youth for Christ. Don is a deacon at Elkton Missionary Church, where he also serves on the counsel.
A sports enthusiast, Don is an avid collector of baseball cards. (Call him if you have a good one to trade or sell!) He also enjoys spending time with his wife, Barb, and two teenage sons, David and Kevin. Golfing and reading fill up his "spare" time.

Allan Nietzke, CPA, Consultant

Allan Nietzke joined Leppien & Company in 1969. In 1979 Nietzke first appeared in our firm's name and in 1992 this accounting firm reorganized as Nietzke & Faupel, PC. He served as the firm's managing partner until 2001. Allan attended Northeastern School of Commerce, and achieved his CPA designation in 1969. Allan specializes in tax and estate issues. He knowledge of tax issues is appreciated by our team members and many clients. He does a great job keeping everyone up to date on the constantly changing tax laws.
Al has been very active in the accounting profession at the local, state and national level. His achievements include serving as past president of the Michigan Association of CPAs. Al is currently a member of the Northeastern Michigan Estate Planning Council. He is also very active in civic affairs. He was a member of the Jaycees, where he served as chapter president twice and was awarded a JCI Senatorship. He is a member of the Sebewaing Rotary Club, where he served as president twice and received the Paul Harris Fellow award. The highlight of Al's work with Rotary was serving as govenor for Rotary District 6310 which oversees many Michigan Rotary clubs. Over the years he has: served as treasurer of the Scheurer Hospital Building Fund, the Sebewaing Medical Clinic board, the board of directors of the Sebewaing Chamber of Commerce and the Sebewaing Village Council. Al also works with the Sebewaing Harbor Commission. He is a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing, where he has served as treasurer, vice-chairman and chairman of the congregation in addition to being an usher for over twenty years.
In his spare time Al enjoys reading, golfing, and hunting. And after many, many years of hunting for deer, he finally brought a buck home proving once and for all that he actually hunted. He also enjoys spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Brian Hazard, CPA, Principal

Brian attended Spring Arbor College and Western Michigan University, earning his Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He joined Nietzke and Faupel in 1981 and earned his CPA license in 1983. In addition to his accounting, auditing and tax work, Brian is in charge of our firm's Quality Control procedures and helps our firm utilize technology. We also depend on Brian to keep everyone up to date on the accounting industry's ever-changing reporting requirements.
Brian is a member of the MACPA and the AICPA. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Pigeon since 1990. Brian served as treasurer of the Pigeon Rotary Club and the Pigeon Chamber of Commerce. Brian enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and remote controlled models.

Cheryl Albrecht, Manager, Administration

Cheryl received her Associate Degree of Business from Hesston College located in Hesston, Kansas. Her major was in medical administration. After marrying a Bay Port native, Cheryl moved from her home state of Illinois to the Thumb. She came to Nietzke & Faupel in 1988, following several years of working in a local physician's office. Cheryl manages the support department and assists our Firm Administrator. She takes care of all the bookkeeping for the firm as well as the monthly billing work.
Cheryl is an active member at Pigeon River Mennonite Church. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and visiting friends and family back in Illinois.

Dan Drabek, CPA, Senior Accountant

Dan graduated cum laude from Baker College, with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He came to Nietzke & Faupel in 1990. He earned his CPA license in 1993 and is currently a Senior Accountant at our firm. Dan prepares hundreds of tax returns during tax season, as well as financial statements and other bookkeeping tasks during the rest of the year.
Dan is a member of the MACPA and the AICPA. Dan serves as Treasurer of the Pigeon Lions Club where he has also served as president. He also serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the Winsor Township Fire Department. He has served as President of the Huron County Firemen Association. He is also a member of the Oliver Township Planning Commission, the Caseville Eagles Club, and the Pigeon Conservation Club.

Carol Loeffler, Senior Accountant

Carol is a Senior Accountant here at Nietzke & Faupel. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Saginaw Valley State University, with a major in accounting. Her duties include preparation of income tax and payroll tax returns, assisting with audits, and client bookkeeping tasks.
